Gu Nian Looks Back on a Life Full of Ginger Candy

“When you were young, was there someone who amazed you like this?

He came bursting through the walls you had built, carrying the stars and moon with him.

Then he borrowed a ray of light, just to illuminate your dim, lifeless world.”

Jiang Tang thought Gu Nian liked her because of that chance encounter on the bridge, that it was love at first sight.

Gu Nian thought they would never have another chance to meet.

But who could have known that on that honey-colored evening, the boy would lift his eyes, and from then on, never look away?

Four years later, he doesn’t want to miss her again.

In everyone’s eyes, Gu Nian was someone who would never enter the world of love. But he did.

And he entered it for Jiang Tang alone.

I have a secret: I’ve secretly liked a girl for many years. She doesn’t need to know, and she doesn’t have to know. It’s enough that I like her.

“Your arrival was like a light I borrowed from the world.”

“And I was born to be the warrior who charges into battle for you.” The boy’s eyes were as dark as ink. He held her tight, speaking each word with tenderness and resolve.

For Jiang Tang, Gu Nian is the reason she refuses to yield to the world or to life.

For Gu Nian, Jiang Tang is the courage to grow toward the light and the reason he loves this world.

Independent, gentle girl Jiang Tang × stubborn, tender boy Gu Nian

They save each other.

Because of each other, we learn to love this world.
