The Beloved Little Money Lover of the Farming Family

Xu Shan says his younger sister, Xu Jiaojiao, was probably poor enough to starve to death in her previous life.

When their mother was pregnant with her, she dreamed that the baby asked whether the Xu family was rich and powerful. Since Xu Shan's father had the character "Fu," meaning wealth, in his name, their mother figured that counted and nodded.

The baby nodded in satisfaction, too.

But on the night her sister was born, their mother dreamed of her again. The baby said her mother had lied: the Xu family wasn't rich at all!

For years afterward, no matter who tried, no one could pry a single copper coin out of the little money-grubber's hands.
