The God of War, Di Qing

In the second year of Tiansheng under the Northern Song, in 1024, sixteen-year-old Di Qing took the blame for his brother and was sent to the capital, where his name was entered on the register of convicts. He went on to live a legendary life, rising from soldier to marshal and from commoner to chancellor. He became Emperor Renzong's favorite general and the only military man of the Northern Song to serve as Privy Council Commissioner. Acclaimed as one of the great generals of his era, alongside Wu Xiang in the north and Wu Mu in the south, he was honored by later generations as the God of War of the Northern Song.
