The Prosperous Days of Little Hu Ji

Mu Yutang, a sixth-rank female official, was drawn into the palace’s inner-court intrigues because of her stunning beauty as a foreign dancer.

After many twists and turns, she finally got her wish and left the palace.

She bought a shop, brewed fine wine, sought out foreign dancers, and hired musicians. Amid the sound of gongs and drums, Mu’s Tavern opened its doors.

Three days later, a doggerel verse spread through every street and alley in Chang’an.

Chang’an’s taverns are thick as hairs, but Mu’s is packed with guests. Fine wine, lovely dances, a charming star, enough to make the men laugh with delight.

Mu Yutang hooked a finger under Prince Rui Li You’s sash. “I hear men all want to take the star performer away for the night?”

Li You gazed at her drunkenly. “The star performer belongs to someone else. You belong to me.”
