The Female Teacher

Shen Chuyun is the eldest daughter-in-law in a powerful household.

She joins the women's rights movement and becomes an idol to female students during the Beiyang period.

But behind her glamorous public image lies a private life full of heartache.

Her husband is a wastrel, her in-laws are demanding, and her parents are old-fashioned.

When her marriage grows dull and lifeless, she files for divorce.

Her husband's family refuses to budge, while her own family angrily cuts ties with her.

She cries bitterly, but she does not give in.

She will write from the heart,

and tell the world that equality for all must begin with equality between men and women!
