Bound to the Human Race's Fortune System

Ever since their birth, humanity has suffered beneath the oppression of the myriad races. Time and again, calamities nearly destroyed the once-mighty human race. They fled to the far north, where the pioneers of humanity turned themselves into kindling. Only then did the people find a glimmer of hope amid the ice and snow. But the powerful demon race was unwilling to spare even this last ember of humanity, instead treating the far north as a hunting ground. Every spring, great armies of demons invade the frozen wasteland, killing, looting, and capturing people. Humanity teeters on the brink, its fortune hanging by a thread.
