The 1980s: I'm Done Playing the Dutiful Wife; I'll Find Love and Make Money

[Karma's Reckoning] [Face-Slapping Feel-Good Story] [The Second Male Lead Takes the Lead] [Era-Era Comeback] [Building Wealth and Prosperity] [Women's Awakening] [Sweet Romance in a Bygone Era]

Lin Jiao is an honest woman.

She works diligently, dates sincerely, and gives way to her mother-in-law and widowed sister-in-law at every turn.

Then, a nightmare before her wedding tears open a blood-soaked future:

In the dream, she falls gravely ill.

Her in-laws take advantage of her illness and leave her to die.

The man she trusts most takes her job and cheats her out of her savings.

He tosses her two packets of Chinese medicine and leaves her to fend for herself.

All while claiming that his widowed sister-in-law needs them more!

When Lin Jiao wakes, she sneers.

You think you can pick on honest people, do you?

I'm going to get back every last thing you've taken from me over the years!

You want my job? I've already sold it!

What will I do after selling my job? I'll head south and make a fortune!

Song Zhizhang thinks Lin Jiao isn't honest at all.

First, she coaxes him into handling her labor export paperwork so she can leave Yuanning County.

Then she pretends not to remember their past and plays hard to get.

He grits his teeth and says, "Lin Jiao, dating without the intention of getting married is just hooliganism!"

Honest Lin Jiao is shocked. "Factory director, when did I ever date you?!"
