Gazing at the Moon, Pitying the Beauty

[Chasing His Wife to the Crematorium] [The Second Male Lead Takes the Crown]

Everyone knows that Lord Shen, who came top in all three imperial examinations, is shrewd and impartial. Yet even a man as otherworldly as he is can't get over matters of the heart. Day after day, he trails behind Lady Pei, the betrothed of General Wei. There's not a trace of his usual self-restraint and propriety.

Rumor has it in the capital that Lady Pei was once Lord Shen's wife. After they divorced, General Wei relentlessly stole her away and married her.

At first, everyone took the rumor as a joke, until someone caught sight of Lord Shen climbing over the wall of the general's residence in the middle of the night. General Wei stopped him, and the two glared at each other like sworn enemies.

“Wei Shuo, you used that pretty face of yours to deliberately seduce Shuning. What a brothel girl's trick.”

General Wei shot back, “That's my talent. Anyway, A-Ning loves my face. She won't even spare you a glance.”

As they spoke, the two looked ready to come to blows.

Just then, a gentle female voice came from inside the courtyard: “A-Shuo, come back. Remember to make the wall one inch higher tomorrow.”

General Wei turned away smugly, while Lord Shen outside the wall's eyes reddened.
