The First Lady of the Yin Trade

I was blinded the moment I was born.

The midwife, Granny Miao, said that I had laughed instead of crying when I came into the world. With my upturned eyes and boneless figure, I looked just like a fox spirit, a shameless little seductress destined to tempt men.

She hurt me and slandered me, yet raised me with her own hands. Every year, on the night of my birthday, she would feel all over my body, as if searching for something, but never found it. Then, on my eighteenth birthday, she tried to make a strange man take my virginity…

To survive, I escaped the mountains with my mother's help and reopened the Thousand Lantern Pavilion. By day, I conduct business with the living; by night, I trade with ghosts and gods. With a thousand lanterns as my contract, I walk between yin and yang, eventually becoming the greatest female underworld merchant in the world.

There is no underworld trade too strange or too outrageous for me, Meng Tanqiu, to take on.

But as my business grew and I met more and more people, the truth of my origins became increasingly mysterious…

Hu Songyu (Fox Lord): “A thousand lanterns as our contract, nine tails as our guide. Through lifetimes of reincarnation, Qiuqiu, I will never let you down.”

Hu Zhiyue (a clone of the Fox Lord): “I was born for you, and only for you. Qiuqiu, how could you bear to let me disappear?”

Mo Siyan (King of the Yin Foxes): “The flowers on the other shore are blooming. Qiuqiu, you may return at your leisure…”
