You Were Asked to Reward the Prince’s Troops, So Why Are Three Thousand Border Guards Calling You Prince?

[Impersonating a prince + A reversal of who controls the narrative + Building up a border city + A dual identity bind + Thrilling, no-System power fantasy] Overworked office drone Chen Ping'an has barely transmigrated when he becomes a stand-in. He must impersonate the third prince and travel north to reward the troops, without saying a word along the way. The real prince has already pocketed all the reward money. Fifty elite guards appear to escort him, but are really waiting to kill him after they empty the granaries. The three thousand battle-scarred soldiers in the city have all been abandoned. With death inevitable either way, Chen Ping'an gives a cold laugh and tears off the shackles of his puppet role. "I am here by imperial decree to reward the troops. Who dares stop me from opening the granaries?" Seize the keys, kill the corrupt officials, open the granaries and distribute food, audit the rotten accounts, and rally the surviving troops! When three thousand battle-hardened veterans kneel as one and cry, "We pay our respects to Your Highness!", the capital falls into utter panic. "Keep the music playing, and keep dancing!" "If the true dragon can sit upon the throne of Great Qian, why can't I, the stand-in?"
