1986: Started by Repairing Imported Machine Tools

In 1986, 63-year-old equipment engineer Zhou Limin woke up and returned to the time when he was 23 years old. At this time, he was just the most inconspicuous maintenance fitter at Linjiang Hydraulic Machinery Factory, with a salary of forty-seven and a half yuan. If the imported machine tools broke, he had to wait for foreign engineers. If the domestic equipment had problems, it would be sealed and left to dust. Everyone in the factory knew that life could still go on, but no one knew how difficult it would be in a few years. Once again, Zhou Limin had no system and no technical information that appeared out of thin air. All he can rely on is his forty years of experience in dealing with machine tools, production lines, and factories. An overheated control cabinet, a cracked solder joint, and a feedback line that was about to break but not break allowed him to repair the imported machining center in advance that the entire factory was afraid to touch. But he soon discovered that it was never the machine that was really difficult to repair, but the habits, costs, distribution, talent and choices of a factory. Starting from an imported machine tool, to resuming production of mothballed equipment, replacing domestic spare parts, technical collaboration with external factories, CNC transformation of old equipment, and then to establishing his own industrial technology team, what Zhou Limin wants to do is not to rely on future memories to get rich overnight, but to take himself and the people around him step by step from "being able to repair machines" to "being able to build machines" in the era of the most dramatic changes in China's manufacturing industry.
