[Strong female lead | political intrigue | legitimate daughter of a military family | speaks with animals | master of medicine and poison | powerful couple locked in a battle of wills | sent to the capital as a hostage] After a great victory in the northern frontier, she receives not an imperial reward but an edict ordering her to the capital as a hostage. What she never expected was that he would be the one to advise the emperor to send her. He repaid her life-saving kindness by throwing her into a cage. Was it a hidden motive, or a betrayal of her kindness? Everyone says this princess is nothing more than a pawn for others to manipulate, but no one knows she has two trump cards in hand. She can understand the speech of every beast. Birds and sparrows alike serve as her eyes and ears throughout the capital. She is a master of both medicine and poison: she can save lives with her skills, or strike down her enemies without a trace… The Crown Prince makes things difficult for her, the Empress lays her plans, and Consort Shu tries to win her over… Now that she has entered the capital, she will protect the Shen family at all costs! Though things may not always go as she wishes, she will become the one who moves the pieces on this board!
