The 1970S Immortal Sect Baby Takes the Whole Village to New Heights

The greediest little immortal cub on Mount Wanling was kicked down to the mortal realm by her parents for eating a few too many thousand-year-old spirit fruits. The moment she landed, Granny Su, whose family line was nearly extinct, found her and took her home. There was a dry well at Granny’s house. The little girl leaned over to look, and the underground river at the bottom cracked apart with a snap. She said she wanted fish, and the well, which had been dry for five years, immediately began bubbling up until it was full of silver fish. Granny’s family couldn’t afford to put food on the table. The little girl craved candy, and strangers all over town started chasing after her to give her sweets. The candy piled up like a mountain, and she even got a huge slab of pork belly in exchange for free. When her no-good uncle-in-law showed up with a knife to beat someone, he slipped and knocked himself out on the doorstep. People in the village always said the Su family had picked up a foolish little girl, a burden who’d only drag them down. Later, the water in the Su family’s well turned sweet, their vegetable garden overflowed overnight, and the eggs from their backyard hens grew bigger than goose eggs. The Su family put the town’s pharmacy out of business, and every household in the village began growing medicinal herbs and building new houses. When county officials came to inspect, one of them took Granny Su’s hand and asked, “Auntie, who exactly is the one leading the way to prosperity through science?” Granny Su pulled A-Fu into her arms and smiled until her face was all wrinkles. “My family’s little lucky star, A-Fu, of course.”
