While Others Chew Tree Bark in Famine, I Pick Up a General on His Way to the Top

After three years of severe drought, young men are in high demand. Everyone wants land and grain, and they fight over the village’s butcher and blacksmith. Only Shen Sui brings home a frail, handsome scholar she found in the mountains. Her sisters mock her for choosing a man by his looks. Though she’s born with superhuman strength and excels at farming, now she has one more person to feed. Shen Sui scoffs. She knows war will break out before long. The man she brought home is a strategist who fled from the army. With medicinal herbs to build up his strength, he’ll become a young, handsome general, fighting by her side through the famine and war. But she never guessed that this man was a powerful figure from the capital, or that he’d help her rise to the top! He helps her build a fortune, and she enjoys a life of luxury. The young man beside her speaks gently: “My lady, I’m only your live-in son-in-law. Everything belongs to you.”
