Bullets Shot Through the Mountains in Deep Winter

The author's writing is as good as ever, and it's really a book that I couldn't put down. A snowstorm has closed the mountains, and the mountains are surrounded by silence. An isolated B&B traps a group of people who bear old sins and scars. The narrative rhythm of the story is very restrained, and it does not deliberately exaggerate the thrilling atmosphere. Instead, it uses the closed environment of the snow-sealed mountains to peel back the past events that were deliberately buried ten years ago. Everyone gathered in the B&B is related to the tragedy in the mining area many years ago. There are perpetrators who inflicted harm, passers-by who watched indifferently, ordinary people who wanted to escape the past, and two protagonists who have been trapped in trauma for a long time. The past will not disappear automatically with age. It is like this mountain in the deep winter, covered with snow all year round, and has been entrenched in the spiritual world of each of them for a long time. The bond between the two heroines is the softest part of the book. The deep winter snow will eventually melt away, and the dense fog will slowly disperse. Those years that were pierced by bullets do not have to be completely healed, but they can be slowly reconciled in the companionship. After closing the book, I gradually understood that in life, it is inevitable that I will walk into my own "deep winter mountain" and encounter unexpected "bullets". However, no matter how difficult it is to trek alone, as long as I can meet a fellow traveler, I will have the confidence to slowly walk out of the cold winter. Facing the weak around us, not being an indifferent bystander is the most important thing we should learn after reading this book.
