Newlywed Fever: Professor He's Little Menace Wants to Separate

[Marriage first, love later / mutually exclusive devotion / slow-burn romance / older man]

[Cold, abstinent professor on a pedestal x ambitious, resilient resident doctor x seven-year age gap]

Reader’s note: This is a sweet romance, a very sweet romance. If you prefer angst, please move along.

With Kangde deep in financial trouble, how will the well-behaved Wen Xi shoulder the burden of saving her family?

Wen Xi’s marriage has been put on the agenda.

The He family of the capital doesn’t lay an egg without a reason. Old Master He says his family has more men than women, so the Wen family can take its pick.

Once they choose, the He family won’t just send over a grandson for free. He’ll even come with a dowry and marry into the Wen family… In short, the Wen family won’t lose out.

The only condition He Tingchu sets for agreeing to the match is that Old Master He invest in his Hanyu Tech. The famously aloof, abstinent Professor He of Peking University is said to be old-fashioned and clueless about romance, and perhaps not entirely straight.

The handsome He: He’s unmarried, but he has a child. Who would be foolish enough to want a man nearing thirty?

At first glance, Wen Xi picks He’s second son, the big star He Wangye.

The good news: He wasn’t chosen.

He Tingchu feigns composure. “Staying unmarried and childless keeps you safe. Who has nothing better to do than humor Wen Qiqi, that little crybaby?”

The bad news: Just before the wedding, He Tingyou runs away, and Old Master He sets his sights on him instead.

Wen Xi stands before him in her wedding dress.

“He Tingchu, I’m formally proposing to you.”

“Will… you say yes?”

The man’s gaze is deep. “Wen Qiqi, thank goodness you’re not blind.”

After the wedding, Professor He’s sweet little wife instantly turns into a fierce little kitten. The professor can only spend every night washing the bedsheets on the balcony…

Newlywed passion consumes him. He gets jealous, he gets possessive, and he loses control one step at a time.

“Professor He, what happened to being calm and composed? I want to live separately.”
