Fifteen Years a Slave, Then the General Knelt When He Married Me

[Angst first, then catharsis; a groveling chase to win her back] [Clear-eyed wildcat heroine × domineering heir who takes what he wants × cold, scheming general] Wang Niannian devoted fifteen years to caring for Xie Qi, the son of the Marquis of Zhenyuan. She had been by his side ever since his mother died, and the two shared a deep bond. Back then, he was frail and gravely ill, on the brink of death. She used her own blood as a catalyst, personally concocted a remedy, and dragged him back from death's door. She gave him years of devotion and stayed silently by his side. Xie Qi had promised to give her a proper place in his life. So she waited, holding on to that promise. Instead, she learned that he was going to marry the Chancellor's daughter. For the sake of an alliance with the Yan family, Xie Qi refused to give her a proper place, keeping her as a woman hidden away in his estate. She became the most shameful secret in the marquis's household, enduring contempt day after day and scorn at every turn. Heartbroken, Wang Niannian finally gave up on him. She resolved to leave the marquis's estate and leave him behind. But now, the man who had gone mad with rage refused to let her go. When she fled, he pursued her. Once he caught her, he shackled her with leg irons and claimed her by force. When she faked her death, he searched for her, destroying an entire bandit's stronghold just to find her body. In the end, she was to marry the calculating General Yan Minghuai. At her door, Xie Qi knelt before her himself, weeping and begging her to come back. Wang Niannian raised her wedding fan and did not look back. And so, the man who had kept himself in check for fifteen years began to lose his mind again.
