A Fateful Bond Across a Thousand Miles

“Qingwan, Mother is gravely ill. She wants to see you one last time.” Because of those words, Xu Qingwan sneaks out of the marquis's residence one night and sets off with Zhou He'an on the journey back to his hometown. But she never imagines that the top scholar who pledged himself to her would take her somewhere other than a warm, welcoming home. Instead, he locks her in a haunted mansion, intending to marry her off to his deceased older brother as a bride. When they meet again, Xu Qingwan has already put up her hair like a married woman, and her husband is the older brother Zhou He'an claims died young. She kicks Zhou He'an away as he begs her to come back, then smashes their token of love to pieces right in front of him. Taking her general husband by the arm, she smiles and tells Zhou He'an to call her sister-in-law.
