Oops! I Entered the Wrong Room, and Now a Powerful Official Has His Eye on Me

Mu Ying’s parents are both dead. Because of an old marriage agreement, she brings her younger brother to seek refuge with the Xu family. But an accident leads her to become intimate with Xu Zhan, the elder brother of her betrothed. The eldest Xu son is as graceful as an orchid and as bright as the moon, the object of countless women’s admiration in the capital. To him, family comes before everything. For that reason, he agreed to a marriage alliance. But just before the wedding, he learns the truth about the accident. So he changes his mind: he will keep both this marriage and the person involved firmly in his grasp, by other means. In the eyes of the second Xu son, the young woman who arrived with her little brother after losing both parents is crude and shamelessly trading on a past favor. Their engagement is a joke, and he intends to break it off. An accident grants him his wish, and Mu Ying marries his graceful, moonlike elder brother. At first, he doesn’t care. He even laughs at the thought of his outstanding brother being tricked into marrying a country bumpkin. Later, as he waits to enjoy the spectacle, he occasionally finds himself staring blankly at the two of them walking side by side. And later still, when his sister-in-law comes to ask him to help her leave, he thinks: So jealousy had already taken root in his heart. Since he missed his chance, then no one else can have a happy ending either. If he can’t have her, his brother won’t keep her, either.
