Wang Chuan has a Peking University law degree earned through self-study, commonly known as a self-study college-to-bachelor's degree. In the capital's legal circles, packed with prestigious schools and elite professionals, he's just a nobody at the bottom of the ladder. After finally passing the judicial exam, he joined a law firm and began his career as a lawyer.

A broke, uneducated, unconnected grassroots lawyer sets sail across the sea of law in the capital, encountering all sorts of bizarre clients and bizarre cases. With the indomitable spirit of a cockroach, he believes he can turn his life around and will eventually reach the far shore of happiness.
