Establishing the Daoist Court

The Old Lord said: “The Great Way has no form, yet it gives birth to Heaven and Earth. The Great Way has no feelings, yet it sets the sun and moon in motion. The Great Way has no name, yet it nurtures all things. I do not know its name, so I give it the forced name of the Way. The Way has its clear and its turbid, its movement and its stillness. Heaven is clear, Earth turbid; Heaven moves, Earth is still. Man is clear, woman turbid; man moves, woman is still. From the source it descends and flows to the end, giving birth to all things. The clear is the source of the turbid, and movement the foundation of stillness. If people can remain clear and still, Heaven and Earth will return to them in their entirety.”
