Lone Wolf Player

Heaven, Hell, Valoran, Faerun, the stars, Warcraft, zombies, Arad.

Every one of these was once a real world, full of life. Now players have conquered them and turned them into dungeons that loop for eternity…

for later generations to play.

The players grinned smugly. This was an invasion of reality by the virtual, of the known by the unknown.

Thanks to their efforts, one day the entire multiverse would become a real game.

But one player saw things differently.

“What? Lone-wolf players can’t form parties, and every dungeon and exploration mission is solo, with its own independent faction! The difficulty’s been cranked way up, too! Isn’t this just a recipe for being utterly alone?”

“What! There are rewards for hunting players, and I can even drag my prey into my own mission world! Hold on, let me contact a few clients. Hello, looking to hire a killer? We’re celebrating our grand opening with 10 percent off. Place an order once, stay worry-free for life!”

Su Muzhe sat atop a mountain of player corpses, facing a mission world he had battered into ruins. The silver Lone Wolf title above his head gleamed brightly.

Counting the loot boxes from his prey, he couldn’t help licking his lips.

“Next mission, I’ll bring in a few more guilds to kill…”
