From Garrison Soldier to Emperor: I’ve Walked on Thin Ice All My Life

This is the struggle for power during the final half-century of the longest period of chaos in the Jin and Northern and Southern Dynasties. This is a stretch of history that the records barely describe. The roots of the glorious Sui and Tang dynasties took hold here. The Guanlong Group, which would dominate the centuries to come, was still a band of spirited young men from the Six Garrisons. In 523 AD, a furious shout heralded the beginning of the Six Garrisons uprising in Northern Wei. A tiny spark began to spread like wildfire. A storm from the northern frontier swept across the realm. With human strength, rise from humble beginnings; with wisdom, plot your way through troubled times; with national strength, bring peace to all. Watch as Pei Sheng, who transmigrates here by accident, rises from the ranks of a garrison soldier in one of the Six Garrisons. Step by step, he makes it to the other side, ushering in a glorious age for China and becoming an emperor renowned throughout history.
