Life in the Inner Courtyard

In Shu Ling's happy life, there is always someone who gets in her way. She tells Shu Ling how difficult life can be, reminds her to be independent and strive for success, and urges her to change women's status in the household.

Young Shu Ling doesn't understand what it means to be independent, but she knows how to work hard.

When the elders in her family teach her brothers to read, they always say they must strive for the family's future.

But as a girl, she can't get into the academy. How is she supposed to strive for success?

In private, Zhu Yun tells her sisters that they need to find a way to change their status in the household.

Shu Ling doesn't know why she needs to change her status in the family. Does that mean her family will treat her badly in the future?

Boo-hoo-hoo! Her cousin Zhu Yun's words make no sense at all.

From childhood to adulthood, Shu Ling has had just one wish: for her distant cousin Zhu Yun to get married and leave as soon as possible, preferably far, far away.

This is a story contrasting the lives of a local girl and a woman who transmigrated. There is no melodrama, just people with different outlooks making different choices in life.
