Chinese Showbiz: Born to Be the Protagonist

Reporter: "Zhang Nanyi, ever since you entered the entertainment industry, you've always played the lead. You've never taken a supporting role, or even a cameo."

Zhang Nanyi: "That's right. What's the problem?"

Reporter: "A veteran actor criticized you for acting like a big shot and refusing to take any role but the lead. Is that why you turned down The King of Kung Fu?"

Zhang Nanyi: "Don't make things up. I didn't turn it down. My girlfriend's been ill and in the hospital lately, so I have to fulfill my duty as a man and take good care of her. Although I love acting, life and health come before acting."

Reporter: "But paparazzi photographed Liu Qianqian shopping in Xidan yesterday."

Zhang Nanyi: "They got the wrong person. That was my agent, Sister Xiaoli. You can't blame them for the mistake, though. Sister Xiaoli really does look younger than her age."

Reporter: "We can tell the difference between Liu Xiaoli and Liu Qianqian. Don't try to confuse us. It was Liu Qianqian who went shopping."

Zhang Nanyi: "Oh, then I remembered wrong. It was Liu Xiaoli who was sick and in the hospital."

Reporter: "..."

Looking at the "protagonist panel" in his mind, Zhang Nanyi declared righteously, "To me, no role is too small. There are high and low standards of professional ethics. I have always upheld an actor's integrity and given my all to bring every character to life. Just look at all the trophies behind me."

The reporter didn't look at the trophies, but at the big-bearded Zhang Jizong standing behind Zhang Nanyi.

"Zhang Nanyi, did you write an essay in elementary school called My Bearded Uncle?"

Zhang Nanyi: "..."
