The Real Men of a Woman-First World

The ending is the biggest failure

The description of each character is very detailed, rich in emotions, and the writing is very good. However, the protagonist is very contradictory, which makes people feel a little angry. The ending is the biggest failure and is unfinished. I can only say that it is average.

Reading this book for the first time is like falling into a strange dream. The blood moon is in the sky, the world is turned upside down, and the gender order we are accustomed to is gently shattered and reorganized. Here, men need to be gentle at home, while women are on the battlefield. Even "self-defense" has become a required course for men's families. The protagonist Zhang Hao stubbornly guards the moonlight of the "old era" in this absurd torrent. He doesn't like makeup and doesn't want to be tamed by the so-called "rules". Even if he is regarded as an alien, he must straighten his spine and live like a "real man" in his heart. This kind of persistence is not a confrontation with the world, but an affectionate look back at one's own authenticity. Watching him deal with the tenderness of his step-sister Zhang Qianqin and the strong preference of female CEO Wei Nan, you can't help but smile - it's not only the tension of the plot, but also the slight trembling of the soul in search of resonance. Some people may criticize its later ambiguity and procrastination, but in my eyes, this is more like a gentle fable about "equality". It uses humor to dissolve the heaviness and uses absurdity to reflect reality. Every time Zhang Hao is "uncompromising", he is actually asking softly: What is masculinity? Perhaps, it is just that no matter what kind of world you are in, you can be yourself gently but firmly. If you want to find a unique reading experience in the hustle and bustle, you might as well open it. In this topsy-turvy world, perhaps we can find our original feelings.
