This is not a historical novel, but a military novel. It's pretty good among the fictional military novels I've read, but it's actually a fictional Pacific battlefield of World War II. What's the advantage? It's a rare naval battle novel and it's well written, especially the description of aircraft carrier and battleship operations during World War II. What are the shortcomings? In fact, it is a replica of Pacific War, which is generally not bad. In fact, the military novel I most want to recommend is "Thunder Strikes Back (formerly known as National Will)". It is the best military novel I have ever read, even far surpassing the famous Tom Clancy. It is very average in literature, but the description of modern war is very detailed and relatively realistic. It perfectly shows what modern war is all about, how third-generation aircraft fight, where are the fourth-generation aircraft, where are the advanced third-generation main battle tanks, and how do anti-aircraft missiles and various anti-aircraft weapon systems support the ground air defense network.
