The Song Dynasty’s Chief Imperial Physician

Shi Wei was born into a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. His ancestors were said to include disciples of the divine physician Zhang Zhongjing. After transmigrating to the early Northern Song dynasty, he was dismayed to discover that he had ended up in the body of a condemned prisoner about to be executed...

It was an age of upheaval and opportunity. Zhao Kuangyin, founding emperor of the Great Song, was ambitiously planning to unify the land. Meanwhile, Li Yu, the last ruler of Southern Tang, still sang “Song of the Backyard Flowers” amid a life of drunken pleasure. The Liu clan's Northern Han regime in the Taihang Mountains was barely hanging on, while the Liao under Yelü Xian grew ever stronger...

In this captivating era, Shi Wei resolved to put his knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine, more than a thousand years ahead of its time, to use and strive to become the kind of young man who had money to spend, women to court, an official post to hold, and a name to make.

Watch as the protagonist rises from the common streets to a brilliant career as a charming, legendary physician, all while chatting and laughing.
