The Time-Traveling Trader

Wang Kai has always spent his workdays reading novels and his evenings watching movies. Then he finds a time machine that, despite being badly damaged, can still take him between the modern city and the Northern Song era. He becomes a time-traveling middleman, buying low and selling high.

He may not be a plane-trading merchant who can count money until his hands cramp just by clicking a mouse, but he gets to savor the power of deciding whether others live or die. And while he doesn't have the protagonist's halo that comes with transmigrating into another body, he can enjoy the comfort and convenience of modern civilization.
