One plow ox and half an acre of land: whether the harvest comes or the fields lie fallow is up to the heavens. Three hearty meals of plain food: breakfast tastes good, and so does supper. A few rooms in a thatched cottage: whether I go out or stay in, I’m content. When the rain clears and the sky turns blue, I sail a little boat, with fish on one side and wine on the other. The sun is already high, yet I’m still asleep. Who’s an immortal? I am. Food is the people’s first necessity. I’m Tang Nong, and my heart belongs to the fields! Plant more, and grow good crops.
