Refining Demons into the Dao

After the Three Pure Ones withdrew to explore the worlds beyond, the Heavenly Court was established, with Haotian as its first Jade Emperor. Revered by the Three Teachings, the Jade Emperor became supreme ruler of the Three Realms, commanding universal awe and respect. All the immortals and Buddhas under heaven bowed before him.

After a hundred thousand years, order was firmly established, the world was at peace, and the Immortal Dao flourished. The Jade Emperor Haotian abdicated, and Zhang Bairen succeeded him as the second Jade Emperor. After withdrawing from power, Haotian followed in the footsteps of the Heavenly Venerables of the Three Pure Ones and explored the worlds beyond the heavens, accompanied by many divine beings from the Three Realms. From then on, successive Jade Emperors followed their predecessors' example. The Heavenly Court's prestige grew ever greater, but its strength dwindled.

A million years later, as the thirteenth Jade Emperor neared retirement, demons from beyond the realms launched a massive invasion of the Heavenly Court. In less than ten years, they had taken over the Celestial Palace and ruled the heavens. Most of the surviving immortals and Buddhas from the Heavenly Court were banished to the mortal world; the rest retreated to a corner of the Celestial Realm, barely managing to hold on.

To stop the demons from invading the human world, the only ancient immortals left, Donghua Dijun and the Queen Mother of the West, sacrificed themselves to seal the Heavenly-Human Path. But the demons would not give up. They were willing to expend their strength to keep seeping demonic energy into the lower realms.

Two hundred years later, the Demonic Dao flourished, and the Immortal Dao was forced to retreat to the Ten Continents, Three Islands, and various hidden grottos.

Just then, Du Yu somehow transmigrated to this world and became a monster, beginning a new life…
