Emperor Hongzhi and His Empress

He is said to be the only emperor in history to uphold monogamy...

Being empress is no easy job. Zhu Youcheng, since you're a decent fellow and the benefits are good, I'll take this as a job. I promise to work hard and give you one hundred percent. What? You're not satisfied? Fine. Since you've made me fall in love with you, you'll have to take responsibility and remain faithful to me for life.

When all that happiness collapses like a castle in the air, where can I go from there? Is a life that's nine parts perfect and one part flawed really the kind of forever I wanted?

This is a story whose ending is already known. Perhaps a lifetime is no more than the distance from one palace to another. But what matters is that fleeting moment when hearts are moved, and all the years spent together afterward.

This is a slow-paced, slice-of-life story told from a small, intimate perspective. No palace intrigue, no political scheming!
