Daoist Canon of Alchemy

The years pass beneath heaven and earth, beset by calamities. From the time Fuxi ruled over the human world, through the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors and the wars of the Spring and Autumn period, people lived in constant, profound fear of peace giving way to war. Demons and monsters took advantage of the chaos to wreak havoc and bring ruin to the world. Among humanity, some insightful individuals seized their chance, trying all manner of methods to understand the mysteries of heaven and earth. Using themselves as a catalyst, they gained superhuman abilities, accomplishing what ordinary people could not. They concealed their names and lived in remote mountains, unknown to the world, silently guarding the Three Realms and the Five Elements and protecting humanity from demonic invasion. As time passed, more and more people joined them. They formed a great organization and called themselves the Daoist Order. These people fought demons without fear of death, while also seeking ever more mysterious powers to escape the constraints of life and death and pursue the pinnacle of immortality. Among these extraordinary people, they had a customary name for the level of existence they occupied: the “cultivation world.” This book tells the story of such a group of people. It unfolds after a celestial book from beyond the heavens, coveted by the inhabitants of all four realms, fell into the mortal world and sparked a battle between the Dao and the demons that would last for thousands of years.
