Exiled to Lingnan? The Plump Maid Leads the Cold Palace in a Comeback

Transmigrated into the body of a 200-jin (about 100-kg) chubby servant in the Cold Palace, Song Nanzhi gets a deadly challenge from the start: exile to Lingnan!

Someone in the Cold Palace secretly slipped everyone a weight-gain drug. They all weigh at least 180 jin (90 kg), and most of them won't survive the journey to Lingnan.

At this critical moment, the Immortal Spirit Valley System awakens: lose one jin and earn one gold coin, redeemable for anything. Help others lose weight and you can earn coins without lifting a finger!

Song Nanzhi, a top modern student of traditional Chinese medicine, goes all out: it's time for everyone to lose weight!

She grows medicinal herbs and concocts secret remedies, then gets the better of the head escort, a wily old hand who's spent thirty years on the official roads, until he bows his head and does as she says.

With a single course of acupuncture, she cures Consort Shu's chronic cold leg. Afterward, Consort Shu tells everyone, "Nanzhi didn't just save our lives. She pulled us out of the mire and helped us live like people again."

She recruits bandits as bodyguards and rules the roads with the outlaws. Even the head escort, who's seen every kind of person, tells his men with a sigh, "I've spent half my life on the exile roads, and I've never met a woman this formidable. She knows when to be gentle and when to be tough. Her future is limitless."

Once they reach Lingnan, she has nothing to fear: she clears land, farms, and opens up maritime trade, turning a desolate wilderness into a land of immense wealth.

Her fame reaches the provincial capital. After an inspection, a commissioner praises her in open court: "A woman exiled here has managed to bring order to this wilderness. Agriculture, industry, commerce, and medicine, she's mastered them all. What a rare talent."

Later, even the emperor makes a personal southern tour to meet her. "I thought she was merely a woman with a knack for business. I never imagined she had the talent to govern. A discarded woman from the Cold Palace, and yet so admirable. What a pity."

From a chubby servant in the Cold Palace whom anyone could bully to the most famous businesswoman under heaven, Song Nanzhi says: "I just lost some weight and happened to win the world along the way. Seems perfectly reasonable, doesn't it?"
