An Elderly Woman Returns to the 1980s, Taking Her Daughter-in-Law to Join the Army and Become Everyone's Darling

In her previous life, Meng Huilan was blinded by greed.

Because she refused to go to the harsh island, she forced her son and daughter-in-law to live apart. They barely had any time together, which was why they never had a child, yet she blamed her daughter-in-law for being barren.

She favored the daughter who lived nearby. After her son died in the line of duty, she took all her grief out on her daughter-in-law, beating and berating her before driving her out. In the end, she even gave all the money her daughter-in-law had sent for her old age to her own daughter.

But her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson were all ungrateful wolves. They treated her like a servant, and when she was bedridden and paralyzed, they set her on fire and killed her.

Meanwhile, the daughter-in-law she had driven away knelt before the burned-out shack, with nothing left inside, and said it was her fault, that she was sorry to Meng Huilan and to Cheng'an, who had died.

When Meng Huilan opens her eyes again, she is back forty years in the past.

Her son is still alive, serving in the army, and her daughter-in-law, Xue Wan, has only been married into the family for a few years.

Meng Huilan packs her bags overnight and takes her daughter-in-law to the island to join her husband.

While everyone waits to laugh at Meng Huilan, her life just keeps getting better.

Whenever she goes beachcombing, she comes home with a great haul. And her cooking goes without saying: when mealtime comes, heads fill the space outside her courtyard wall.

Xue Wan: "Who says mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law are natural enemies? My mother-in-law is someone you can only envy!"

Meng Huilan: "Who says a daughter-in-law is an outsider? She's just like my own daughter, and I'll spoil her rotten!"
