Fragments of the Investiture of the Gods: The Tale of Di Xin

After the Investiture of the Gods, the heavens gained a host of new gods, but the mortal realm never again had an emperor. While piecing together oracle bones, a young historian accidentally uncovers a buried history: Was Di Xin the ruler who abolished human sacrifice and appointed people based on merit, or was he the tyrant Zhou, infamous for his wine pools and meat forests, and his decadence and immorality? Three thousand years after his death, everyone says he was placed on the Investiture of the Gods. Yet his name has always been missing from the list.
