God Tamer

In this world, every mountain has a mountain god, and every river has a river god. The gods receive offerings and worship, but they can make mistakes too. When they do, they are sealed in shrines and hauled in for trial.

Lu Heng, a carriage driver, only wanted to gather one hundred and eight taels before the first day of the ninth month so he could buy back the old family home that had been pawned. That was how he came to take up the work of escorting condemned gods.

With every escort, the number of guilty gods in his charge grew, as did the number of people pursuing him.

Many years later, the people of Liuqiao Market remembered only that the Lu family had bought back their old home.
