Harbor City Martial Arts: Starting as a Boy at a Bookstall

In a parallel world, 1961: Hong Kong, battered by storms and under colonial rule.

Foreign boxing ran rampant, the governor suppressed martial arts, and foreigners were privileged at every turn. Traditional martial arts in Hong Kong were in decline.

Chen Yanzu, a poor young man from Kowloon Walled City, made a living selling goods on the street. By chance, he awakened three mysterious martial arts plaques: Appraise, Perform, and Temper.

With one glance, he could spot flaws in a move. With a thought, he could simulate a fighting technique ten thousand times. His body could be tempered without limit!

He joined the Xiongwei Martial Arts School, which was on the verge of closing, becoming its sole student.

He had barely entered the world of martial arts when the whole city fell into chaos.

At a martial arts tournament in Happy Valley, a master of traditional martial arts was defeated by a Western boxer in just three rounds, bringing shame upon the entire martial arts world.

The Zhongyi Society took advantage of the chaos to assassinate the governor. British troops entered the city to suppress the unrest. The streets ran red with blood, and a citywide manhunt left everyone on edge.

Foreign power pressed down on Hong Kong, martial arts schools were bullied, and the many martial arts traditions were on the brink of collapse.

The White Crane Martial Arts School mocked them, fellow practitioners looked on coldly, foreigners scorned them, and the Hong Kong government cracked down on them.

Everyone thought the Xiongwei Martial Arts School was sure to be struck from the martial arts tournament roster.

But no one knew that a heaven-defying martial arts prodigy was quietly rising in the squalid alleys of the walled city.
