The Register of Lights in Wuzhou

The eternal lamps of Wuzhou City can hold back the nightmare tide at night, but their fuel is the memories pawned by the people.

Shen Yan, a junior registrar in the Lantern Office, finds a seventh lamp in the ledger. He is listed as its bearer, but the memory he pawned is one he could never have had. Stranger still, the lamp hasn't been lit, yet the account has already been recorded. The year written on the page is next year.

Lu Zhiwei, an inspector with the City Defense Bureau, is also investigating East Street. Whenever it rains, someone may vanish from there, along with their household registration and the memories others have of them.

Starting with a single erroneous entry, the two gradually uncover someone using memories from the future to light tonight's lamps. And the person forgotten by the entire city may never have left at all.
