Haitang Crossing

In their third year of marriage, Shen Zhiwei personally packed the clothes Xie Yanchen would need for his trip. She found a letter tucked in his sleeve. It contained just one sentence: "Miss Gu is gravely ill. If you don't come, she probably won't survive the night." Gu Mingtang. She knew that name well. When the Gu family fell into trouble, she had pleaded on Gu Mingtang's behalf and helped her leave the capital. She had never imagined that the person she'd saved would one day make her husband leave home in the middle of the night. When Xie Yanchen returned, Shen Zhiwei asked only one question: "Where did you go?" He said nothing. She looked at him and asked no more. Only later did she learn that some questions, asked too often, make even an explanation seem unnecessary. By the time Xie Yanchen finally wanted her to stay, Shen Zhiwei had already packed her dowry. This time, she didn't wait for him.
