Don't Run, Ghost!

Ji Wei, 26, graduated with a degree in historic architecture restoration. Her guiding principle in life is: “Anything can be put to use.” She spent all her savings to buy a Republic-era mansion called Sound Pavilion for three reasons: it was cheap, it would draw traffic, and it had a ghost inside. That’s right. She’s been able to see ghosts since childhood and has always pretended she can’t. Not because she’s afraid of them, but because living people are easier to fool. At midnight on Ghost Festival, she timed her paper offerings to perfection and “smoked out” Jiang Yan, a renowned Kunqu opera performer who had died a century ago. This ghost is timid, shy, handsome, and quick to hide when teased. He’s easily fooled like no other. Ji Wei smiles sweetly. “I’ll help you fulfill your wish!” What she means: “You help me make money.” Everything goes according to plan: her short videos gain followers, her murder-mystery game venue is packed, and her immersive theater IP becomes a huge success. Jiang Yan plays the ghostly tool, while Ji Wei handles the beaming smiles. The only bug is her childhood friend Wen Jiu: a champion trash-talker with absolutely no courage. Every time she sees a ghost, she runs faster than anyone, but her phone is always on, ready to deliver remote “moral judgment” to Ji Wei. “You’re the most gentle-hearted scumbag I’ve ever met.” The other bug is Shen Zhaoxu, a second-generation rich kid so meticulous it’s infuriating. Before pursuing her, he put together twenty-three versions of an Excel analysis report. But the biggest bug is Jiang Yan himself. At some point, he starts sneaking glances at her. His gaze is so pure, it hardly seems like he’s a ghost who’s lived for a century. Ji Wei tells herself: It’s not real. Wen Jiu tells her: You’ve fallen for him. #Urban Fantasy #Light Comedy #Past Lives and Present #Ensemble Cast
