Killed by Players Nine Thousand Times

Lorraine was an NPC killed by players 9,473 times. She woke up before her 9,474th death. She gained a player's identity and started climbing from level one as a commoner. Players relied on combat power; she relied on information. After standing behind a counter for three hundred years, she had heard how to tackle every dungeon and knew what each monster guarded. But she didn't dare use that knowledge too quickly. Players and NPCs had different underlying parameters. If anyone figured that out by comparing them, she was finished. And what she most wanted to understand wasn't how to survive. It was why everyone else forgot after dying once, while she remembered more than nine thousand deaths.
