Han Enters the Red Chamber

Bai Zhihan, the legitimate daughter of the Bai family of Yangzhou, visits the Rongguo Mansion at the invitation of an old family friend. She steps into the Grand View Garden, resplendent with blossoms, and sees the gathering of its beauties. She also glimpses the worries lurking beneath the splendor of the great families. When she meets Daiyu, aloof and sensitive, the two recognize a kindred spirit and become confidantes. She is merely a passing visitor to the Grand View Garden. She takes no part in its conflicts, coolly observing the ups and downs of life in the mansion and savoring the warmth and coldness of the human world through poetry, wine, and idle conversation. This is a derivative fan work based on the public-domain original Dream of the Red Chamber. Its characters and background are drawn from the original, while the plot is entirely original.
