Unread Messages

Su Nian and Cheng Ye had known each other for twenty years. From one end of their alley to the other, from school uniforms to a rented apartment, they had promised to get married. But then Su Nian was diagnosed with leukemia. She didn't tell him. She made a secret account with the ID "Spring Has Come" and checked his social media every day. He got promoted. He bought a house. He grew mint. He ate hot pot alone. She saved screenshots, always with the same caption: "He's doing well today." On the day she passed away, she asked his mother to give him her phone. Her drafts were filled with messages she had never sent.
