Trainee Grim Reaper: Disconnected Signal

This is a fan-created derivative story based on the Steam game Apprentice Reaper. A newly appointed apprentice reaper receives a mission: through online chats, stop Lin Qixuan, a programmer in deep psychological crisis, from taking his own life. She can only talk to him through a retro chat window. She cannot appear before him or directly interfere with his fate. As they exchange messages late into the night, the two form a secret emotional bond. But the reapers' ironclad rules strictly forbid excessive interference in human lives. Every tender reply could bring retaliation. When their connection is forcibly severed, the two, separated by life and death, must find a way to save each other within the confines of those merciless rules.
