Two Power Brokers in the Imperial Palace

Shen Yan transmigrates and becomes a copyist palace maid in the Dàshèng Imperial Household, where anyone can trample her underfoot. The law has never expressly forbidden women from entering officialdom, but millennia of ritual constraints and the aristocratic clans' stranglehold on power have left most women confined to their homes and palace walls. A long-buried corruption case in an old dossier becomes the faint light that shows her a way to break free of her fate. Deep within the palace, Shangguan Xiao Lingshu commands the female officials of the Six Palaces and controls the palace intelligence network. She is calculating and perceptive, with a keen understanding of people. Their first meeting is a test of wits and an attempt to suppress one another. They maneuver against each other at every turn, yet after surviving countless brushes with death, they become the only kindred spirits left in a treacherous world of political intrigue. One remains in the palace, uncovering plots in the shadows and securing the foundations behind the scenes. The other steps beyond the red walls to face a storm of impeachment and stand against the deeply entrenched aristocratic clans. Emperor Jing Zhao of the Yuanqi era hopes to use her to keep the powerful clans in check, but constrained by public opinion at court and beyond, he dares not easily overturn customs passed down for a thousand years. Amid the condemnation of the entire court, Shen Yan rises step by step to the head of the officials, becoming the first female chancellor since the founding of Dàshèng. Imperial power looms before them, the aristocratic clans obstruct them at every turn, and rumors rage without end. Across a vast land battered by storms, only these two extraordinary women can rely on each other and shoulder the burden of a realm in chaos. 【No male lead | Two powerful women, kindred spirits | Court intrigue | Career-focused female lead】
