My Mortal World

In a small town in southern Sichuan in the late 1990s, a young man from the bottom rung of society struggles to make a living and build a business in the cracks of reality. Once full of passion, he is betrayed and manipulated, falls to rock bottom, then picks himself up and fights his way back, experiencing the warmth and coldness of human nature. He has loved and suffered. This is a record of an ordinary man’s growth, laying bare the cruelty of reality and the many complexities of human nature, while depicting a man’s struggle amid gains and losses: he wins his life back, yet ultimately loses himself. The world is unpredictable. Beneath the seemingly calm surface of a smooth life, undercurrents still lurk, and the road ahead remains full of unknowns.
