The stars are silent as riddles, the wilderness vast and wordless.

On the day Nan Xingye turned eighteen, her mother and sister were murdered. Armed with a few letters from home, she found the base where her father was stationed.

It was a top-secret base: people could enter, but never leave.

Her daily routine here involved keeping busy, chasing handsome guys, bickering with her chief engineer father, and monitoring a planet that had detected an unknown civilization but then fallen silent.

Then that planet sent her a letter in reply.

What other people said about her:

Chief Engineer Father: "She crossed a hundred thousand mountains to get here. Did she really think she was innocent and naive?"

Base Officer: "She made a launcher by hand and carried out her revenge right here at the base. Clearly, she's more capable of taking action than her father."

Father's Student: "She makes people in a base full of geniuses think she's not smart. That's exactly what makes her smart."

Echo Star Military District Officer: "She can't put on an act as well as I can."
