Evidence of Ashes

At the end of the 19th century, when fog and soot shrouded the city, the railways carried civilization to farther places and brought back the secrets that should have been buried in the wilderness, manors and old times. Some people heard the dead walking in the closed manor, and some witnessed the lion carrying away the girl at the forest night banquet; there were corpses hidden deep in the hive that should not exist, and breathing could be heard from the walls of the ancient mansion at midnight, and those things called curses, evil spirits and miracles in rural legends were often accompanied by an unexplained corpse. As a result, two completely different men began to appear in these weird events again and again. One believes in the evidence. One is better at understanding people. They don't always see eye to eye, and they're never in a hurry to play the hero who saves everyone. More often than not, they just stand outside the crowd, watching how lies are created, how fear spreads between people, and how they find the answer they least want to be discovered from a drop of blood, a footprint, a wrong time, and someone's subconscious actions. Because there may really be unexplainable things in this world. But it is always humans who kill. When the flames burn away the lies, there will always be evidence left among the ashes.
