The Tangled Book Beneath the Palace

Su Tang was a peerless beauty, so radiant that no words could capture her grace. Was she a temptress who brought down a dynasty, or an auspicious sign heralding a new era of peace and prosperity? As wounds born of obsession, silent longing, a bond of devotion, and indulgent affection wove together in layer upon layer, half her life was spent within palace walls, while one song from the countryside told the rest. Her extraordinary story defied all attempts to verify it. Even the court historians could not decide what to write, and in the end, they left the entire account of her blank.
